Joe Bageant: Obama's Fight For Reform - Lay off the footwork and throw a punch!

This Joe Bageant has some liberal tendencies, but other than that, he seems like somebody you could sit and drink a spell and have some laughs with. He's talking about Obama tearing into Social Security. Now you know it took Nixon to go to China, so it'd take a Democrat to slice up Social Security. I just don't see how Obama got talked into it, though. I thought he wanted a second term. Maybe not, now that he's got it. Only one way to let that particular tiger go when you've got it by the ears.

Anyway, the article's worth reading for this here quote:

I fully understand I was born under a corpocracy. But I do wish our masters grasped the importance of free alcohol in the suspension of disbelief.

Now that's somebody worth chewing the fat with, I don't care who you are.

There's more to it. Maybe Jackie and Dunlap could ride over to Arkansaw and visit a spell with old Joe. Take him some whiskey, you know.

Just so everybody's clear: the regulation that mandated no increase in this year's Social Security was set up many years ago, and the "cut" is really an increase in Medicare premiums. Nothing for us geezers to get riled about.

Yep, someone heated that potato up a few years back. Who ends up getting burned with it? Before the Republicans get done with it, Obama will be ripping off their checks before pulling the plug on 'em.
