Why didn't we see all this hoopla when Laurence Olivier died? Or Ernest Hemingway? Or Einstein? Those people did things a lot more significant than walk backwards funny.
In 1915 Einsten's casket was carried by Supreme Court Justices There was no TV or internet
Laurence Olivier has one of the most memorable services ever given for the greatest actor of all time on 10/20/89: A memorial service was held at Westminster Abbey. Douglas Fairbanks Jr. carried the insignia of Olivier's Order of Merit, Michael Caine bore his Oscar for lifetime achievement, Maggie Smith a silver model of the Chichester theatre, Paul Scofield a silver model of the National, Derek Jacobi the crown worn in Richard III (1955), Peter O'Toole the script used in Hamlet (1948), Ian McKellen the laurel wreath worn in the stage production of "Coriolanus," Dorothy Tutin the crown worn for King Lear (1983) (TV), and Frank Finlay the sword presented to Olivier by John Gielgud, once worn by the 18-century actor Edmund Kean.
Ernest Hemmingway, the Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winner followed in his fathers suicide footsteps imitating him by taking his own life after attending a dinner at a Ketchum restaurant at the age of sixty one. His funeral was a scaled down Catholic service because of his many marriages His legacy is probably the best perserved of all American authors. His homes in Key West, Florida , Cojimar, Cuba and Ketchum, Idaho have been saved becoming popular tourist destinations. The postal service has honored him with a commemorative stamp while American schools extol his writings making them required reading.
So friend there was "hoopla" for those guys and there should be hoopla for a person who was perhaps the greatest entertainer this generation will see.
The media never loses and like so many others will take full advantage of the celebrity of MJ Its not over yet wait until the vultures circle the estate It certainly did dominate certain news broadcasts but that doesn't detract from his status as the greatest entertainer of all time and his "genius" as an artist Some people may find it easier to separate their views of an artist as a "person" from simple appreciation of the art Einstein Hemingway and Olivier were known to have their faults and perhaps disgusting habits but their places in history as artists discounts that. The same should be said for Michael Jackson We all need to look at the "Man in the Mirror" And yes it was a typo as to Einsteins death it was 1955
Since he won 8 grammys, had the top selling album of all time, recognized for his acheivements by Ronald Reagan. etc Can you name a greater one in the past 50 years???
Pedophile pop stars are special to the world apparently. I really dont get how accepting people are of this freak of nature. The dude was out of his fucking mind.
