Sarah Palin calls on Florida pastor to cancel Koran burning

Former Vice Presidential Candidate Sarah Palin called on the Florida pastor who is planning a Koran burning on Sept. 11 to cancel the event, and compared the book burning to the plan to build
a Muslim community center two blocks from the site of the 9/11 attacks
in Lower Manhattan.

My Opinion? I believe that Baptist have the same right to practice their free speech as everyone else in this country. And that includes the right burn Korans on private property in Florida, in accordance with local laws and ordinances. This is America. And our commitment to free speech must be unshakable. The principle that people of any opinion have the right to say what they want, how they want is essential to who we are.

I think this is the worst thing Palin has ever said. To compare building a place to worship and try to come together with burnning a people's holy book. This stupid stupid woman. How about saying burnning this book is just wrong and antichristin thing to do. We haved proved to the world we are at war with Islam. I am ashame to be a american. We are the Unites States of Hate. God help us all !!
I don't think anyone is suggesting that he doesn't have the right to burn Qur'ans or infringing on his right to free speech. Just exercising their own right to free speech by telling him why they think he shouldn't do it.

My opinion? I think if people are opposed to what he's doing it's a mistake to give him more attention by making a big deal out of what would otherwise be the insignificant act of a tiny fringe group.

This dude's church, like the Westboro Baptists, gets way more press than their numbers should warrant. Just more irresponsible sensationalism by news corporations starved for ratings and relevance.
He should be encouraged to express his beliefs. By not letting him be who he is we are sending a chilling message to all of those who wish to be different.
I don't see how anyone is not letting him. And shouldn't the people who disagree with him also be encouraged to express their beliefs?

Being different is hard. It always has been. Getting guff for it comes with the territory. The people who don't like what he's doing have as much right to object to it as he has to burn the books in the first place.

Besides, if he didn't encounter any social pressure to not burn any Qur'ans, he might very well lose interest in the whole affair. After all, generating controversy was the desired result of this stunt, was it not? His goal was obviously to get a lot of attention and piss people off. He should be pleased as punch that he's run into so much resistance. Mission accomplished.
Anyway, he pussed out, so it's a moot point.
I'm disappointed, especially since the GZ Mosque Imam threatened us today.

GZ Mosque Imam threatened us today.

Wait... what?
Imam: Handling of Islamic center plan a matter of national security

(CNN) -- The religious leader behind plans to erect an Islamic center and mosque a few blocks from New York's ground zero said Wednesday night that America's national security depends on how it handles the controversy.

"If we move from that location, the story will be the radicals have taken over the discourse," Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf told CNN's Soledad O'Brien on "Larry King Live."

"The headlines in the Muslim world will be that Islam is under attack."

The imam, who repeatedly said his mission was to promote peace and build a bridge among faiths, said he was also speaking about "radicals" on both sides of the debate on the Islamic center. "Our national security now hinges on how we negotiate this, how we speak about it."
How is that a threat? Because he happens to be Islamic? You realize that he's only saying the exact same thing that everyone else is saying on the subject, right?
I can't believe you asked that. You know, you and me are fine but my next door neighbor, he hates stuff like that. You need to be very careful from now on and not offend him. Come to me if you want to know what will and will not offend him. Do as I say and you'll be fine.
Interpol, for example:

INTERPOL issues global alert for increased terror threat if Koran burning in US goes ahead as planned

LYON, France – INTERPOL has today issued a global alert to its 188 member countries following the request of Pakistan’s Minister of the Interior, and its own determination, that if the proposed Koran burning by a pastor in the US goes ahead as planned, there is a strong likelihood that violent attacks on innocent people would follow.
So is that alert from Interpol also a threat?
