Now the government that gave us a multitrillion-dollar Social Security obligation, an accompanying Medicare obligation that is almost five times higher, while compromising our national security, wants to micromanage all of the nation's health care. Only in the Beltway wonderland would such an idea even resemble making sense.

Don't worry though as long as the IOU's last the benefits will keep flowing. We just have to BORROW more money.

Of course China will keep funding us right? I mean we have triple A bond rating.

The wheels have begun to fly off the entitlement juggernaut.

Thanks to the Republicans and their huge deficits and tax cuts for the rich.
Al Gore wanted to put Social Security in a lockbox: no borrowing from the fund for other purposes.

Thanks to the stolen election of 2000, that didn't happen.
Lets see Republicans had control of the House since 1935 for about 16 years, and control of the Senate for 22. So for the VAST majority of the time the dumbocrats were in control. Reagan tried with Tip O to fix it, Bush wanted to privatize it like Chile's. So yeah, obviously the Republicans are to blame for the entire situation. The d's did not spend any of the money they are blame free.

We're not talking about since 1935. We're talking about since 1980 when Reagan raised military spending and cut taxes for the rich therefore increasing the deficit. And the problem was made much worse under Dubya, who cut taxes for the rich more and raised spending more and crashed the US economy. The Republicans were in control of the congress most of that time. Where were the teabaggers then? Why they were cheering him on. Their present reward for this? A big cup of STFU.
Uh the Dims were in control of the house from 1955 to 1995. Remember Reagan and Tip brokered a deal to raise your taxes and fix Social Security and the dims spent the money. They controlled the House and the R's had control of the Senate for 4 years under Reagan. Bush one RAISED taxes and that did not fix it because the dims spent the money. They controlled BOTH houses of Congress. Clinton raised taxes (did not fix it). Hillary care and Newt gave the R's a majority in the House for the first time in 40 years in the House. And then the Republicans started worrying about where Clinton was putting his penis instead of fixing the "gawddamn" problem to quote GHT. Bush 2 or part deux, take your pick, had to deal with 9-11, spent even more money on a prescription drug plan, cut taxes to kick start the economy after 9-11 (but should have cut the corporate tax rate instead) Then tried to fix Social Security but you dims whined like little little girls about the legacy of FDR... So you and your comrades have been in control for 78.9% of the time in the House and 70.7% of the time in the Senate since 1935 and have not suggested anything to "fix" this Ponzi scheme other than raise taxes. If you start from 1981 when Reagan took office to present you and your fellow party members still have the most years of controlling the House and the Senate. Even Clinton said the problem needed to be fixed. Socialism fails again. IOU nothing. Go get it yourself if you want it. As for the cup it will be fillled with TEA (Taxed Enough Already) in November.
