Twitter? I don't get it.

As far as I can tell, it's a forum where in staccato burst of minutia, people can post any trivial happening in their day. For example:

Jackie: Copped some buckshot. Let's see how the neighbor's dog like's it when he chases my goats.

Dunlap: Washed down some Oxycotin with a pint of Nyquil, now I'm ready kick some ass at that job interview.

...and on it goes.

If anyone could enlighten me, please respond.

I think it's serves as a kind of pressure release valve for potential stalkers, so they can feel like they're inside the loop without having to actually make camp out in the hedges.
