What Are Your Favorite Comedy Shows and Movies?

Don't be shy. Tell us your favorites. Everyone has favorites

Mine are:

The Big Lebowski - (movie)
Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels - (movie)

Last of the Summer Wine - (BBC TV)
Father Ted - (BBC TV)

I love British humor and darn near anything made by the Coen brothers.
I didn't really care for Barton Fink but that's the exception..

The Office is the best show from the UK in recent years.

.
I also like Brass Eye.

Da Ali G Show started out on BBC:

Now some American television. I'm a big fan of Mr. Show:

Chappelle's Show, of course.

Finally, Dirty Work is probably my favorite movie ever, comedy or otherwise.

I could keep going but I think that's probably enough for one post.
Favorite movie (non comedy) is Chinatown. I agree that The Big Lebowski as is anything done by the Coen brothers is great. For tv comedy "Curb you Enthusiasm" is probably my favorite sitcom, as well as Seinfeld. Must admit though I don't really keep up with whats out there and have never seen The Office. Chapelle show was great, also The Daily Show and Colbert Report. If you like cars and British Comedy I recommend "Top Gear". It's a car show, but also hilarious. I don't even care that much about cars, but I love this show and it often has me "busting a gut". It's on BBC America, but I usually watch it online. This episode is hilarious.

Here's a clip from another episode. One of the funniest things about it is they spend the whole show busting each others' balls.
For car enthusiasts here's a great one.

Here's part 2 of the American challenge. Hilarious!

The Big Bang Theory ... The Daily Show ... A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum ... Blazing Saddles ... Start the Revolution without Me.
Ditto on the Coen Brothers. "Raising Arizona" is another one of my favorites.

As for movies, I humbly submit the following:

1) A Fish Called Wanda - A great study in Anglo-American rivalry. Kevin Klien's character is hilarious and Jamie Lee Curtis is hot.

2) Dr. Strangelove- Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece in black comedy. My precious bodily fluids ooze just thinking about it.

3) Duck Soup: The Marx Brothers - need I say more.

4) Down with Love - Probably not on everyone's list, but this film noir is a tribute to the Doris Day and Rock Hudson comedies of the early 60's. A sexy Renee Zellweger and Ewan McGregor (Trainspotting) pull it off masterfully. Also David Hyde Pearce (Fraser) is a great supporting actor in the cast.

5) Shoot 'em Up!- Two words best describe this move: Gun Porn. The non-stop comic book action is sure to entertain anyone who is not squeemish about violence.

If I had more time I could add a few more. As for TV, I don't watch much, but here it goes:

1) Sienfeld
2) Cheers
3) Taxi
4) Fawlty Towers
5) Fraser
6) The Simpsons
The Jerk
SCTV
Love & Death
Real Life
Young Frankenstein
Kingpin
Eastbound & Down
Marx Brothers
Wonder Showzen
David Letterman
Andy Kaufman
Andy Kaufman took comedy to a whole new level LOL.
Look how ruly Eugene Levy's eyebrows were back then! They're borderline kempt.

Thanks for the heads up on Eastbound and Down. I'd never heard of it but it looks pretty funny. I need to pick up a copy.
