Red State Update

I didn't know that John Phillips was from Alabama. I always thought he was from South Carolina...I reckon that's close enough to Alabama, though...and I wish we had time to talk about it because it's a fascinating, albeit disturbing story but we don't, so we'll just toss that one to Oprah.

I am glad that you brought up Alabama, though, because that leads us straight north to Tennessee, where there is nothing but fresh baked down home bourbon soaked good news: Contrary to popular belief spurred by the damned Liberal Drive-By Media, Jackie and Dunlap have NOT been abducted by commie socialist aliens and taken to the Liberal home world, Teddy, in the Camelot constellation...that damn Coast To Coast AM will stop at nothing to increase their ratings and will report every highbrockery story ever written...they were just on vacation. Or something. Golfing, probably.

Yeah, they look like golfers to me. So that's what they must have been doing. Since 1962. And Lord knows, you can't take ten minutes out of your precious putting time to go shoot a damn video. But, they have evidently FINALLY reached and finished the 18th hole and are back at work:

Is It Racist To Hate Obama?

Jackie feels a little racist hating Obama so much. Dunlap helps him work through his feelings.

Who Does Obama think he is?

Now, if history repeats itself, we'll all be dead of old age when Jackie and Dunlap decide to do their jobs again, so enjoy this one. So, to tide us over till then, here's a letter from MoveOn about the evils of health care reform:

------------------------------------

Dear MoveOn member,

Did you know that some insurance companies actually consider domestic violence a "pre-existing condition"? That is, women whose boyfriends or husbands have beaten them could actually be denied coverage for that reason.1

It's sickening. And it's just one more reason we need a public health insurance option—a health care plan that won't put profits before basic human decency.

It's not enough to pass new regulations. Like credit card companies and big banks, health insurance companies will always be looking to find a new loophole.

And while insurance companies rack up profits by denying coverage, their conservative friends in Congress are busy defending them from the competition they'd face from a public plan—and arguing we should give them another chance to clean up their act.

Can you call Sen. Durbin? Tell him that you're sick of big insurance's monopoly on our health care system—and we need a real public health insurance option to hold insurance companies accountable.
Here's where to call:

We've all heard the tragic stories about how health insurance companies use the "pre-existing conditions" rule to deny coverage to people suffering from chronic disease.

But extending it to domestic violence victims is simply beyond the pale—and it's perfectly legal in eight states and the District of Columbia. In fact, one survey found that 8 of the 16 largest insurers in the country have used domestic violence as a factor in denying coverage.2

These outrages won't end until we force private insurance companies to compete with a high-quality, affordable public plan that'll keep them honest.

But right now, Congress is debating proposals that would fatally weaken or delay implementation of the public health insurance option. So we've got to keep fighting—can you call Sen. Durbin today?

Thank you for all you do.

There, I think that does it for this one. We've tarnished the memory of a rock legend...I still love the Mama's And The Papa's, though...dispelled a terrible rumor and illustrated the evils of giving everyone affordable health care at the expense of the insurance companies and watched a couple of good video on the computer, to boot.

I think I deserve a rest, now, so I'm going to go play golf. Well, it's not golf exactly but if I can find 9 girls who are willing, I will play 18 holes. And I'm going to screen out the comedians this time so I don't have to listen to any untrue unfunny jokes about my short game.
